Construction Update NEW
For those that are interested in how the bond construction is progressing: The East Aud chairs have all been removed. Handicapped seating areas have been poured (the concrete makes the floor level in one row, keeping wheelchairs from rolling). Work on the ceiling fabric looks to be about half done. The stage floor has been removed, and the new floor has been put into place (it now needs to be sanded and painted). The concrete bumps on either side of the stage have been removed (if you've had to move things on or off the stage, you know which bumps I'm talking about.) Most impressive: They have refinished the front of the stage and the back wall of the stage. It looks INCREDIBLE.

We are told that the project should be done by the December concerts. The musical will be held in the East Aud March 3-5.

Remember, work will not start on the new performing arts center/theater until next summer, when the new B-Gym and swimming pool are finished. We should be moving into our new theater fall of 2012.

(21 Aug 2010)
Fall Play Auditions NEW
Sign up outside the West Auditorium to audition for the fall play! Monologues are provided, or you may bring one of your own. Auditions will be held Tuesday and Wednesday after school in the West Aud.

Upcoming Weddings NEW
Two upcoming weddings in the next year: Allison Shellito (2005 East theatre grad) will be marrying Christopher Rinaldi on June 11, 2011. Curtis Barton (1998 East theatre grad) will be marrying Deborah Gaunt on October 23, 2010. Congratulations!

(20 July 2010)
Nights of Broadway NEW
East's Broadway variety show returns this year, but because of construction in the East Auditorium, we will be presenting it in November (instead of February/March). This means we will need to create a song list sooner this year. If you have any suggestions of songs you would like included in this year's show (remember, it must be from a Broadway musical or review) please email Mr. G ASAP.

"New" Lights!
Today the performing arts department got a few new lights! OK, That's a bit of an understatement. We tripled the number of lights we previously had. Yes, they are used, but wow, that's a lot of lights. Now Bridget just needs to get them working by the musical! Thanks to everyone who helped unload the lights and special thanks to FoPA and Mr. Thiessen!

Added Oct 17: Stopped by East today. Fixed up, hooked up and lit up one of our new lights. Worked great!
